About the EMHEN

Background of EMHEN:

If you have never heard of EMHEN, you are not alone. There is not too much to say, in fact.

​

In 2017, a small group of leaders of emergency management degree programs met to consider whether there would be value in creating a space for us to dialogue about issues of mutual concern. The FEMA Higher Education Program has been a huge source of support for a long time. We all value the Symposium each year and are anticipating attending it each June. Still, we decided that we would love to interact around topics of mutual interest more than once a year.

We dubbed our effort the “Emergency Management Higher Education Network (EMHEN)” at the time to capture the idea that we were a group, without formal hierarchy, agenda, or dogma that desired connection to one another.
